Tamara Johnson was a lost inner-city kid battling issues of abandonment and broken relationships until she was invited to see a young boy perform gospel rap in 1999. Not knowing that day would change her life forever, she went to the service. During that meeting Jesus began to tap on her heart. For the first time, Tamara realized the depth of her sin and the cost involved in Jesus Christ’s work on the cross. She repented out of deep regret leading to Godly sorrow and accepted Christ as her Savior in that hour. That day, Tamara walked out of the building a transformed woman! Since then, Tamara passionately pursues becoming more and more like Christ each and every day.
Understanding what it is like to be a kid without guidance and purpose, the Lord gave her an idea. In the summer of 2014, she invited some teen girls over for an overnight stay and would adventurously call it The Bonfire Sessions. The location would be on Hickory Ridge Farm, the place her own discipleship journey began with Life Renewal Ministry where she served for 15 years. Christ’s impact on the girls that night turned the session into a full blown discipleship youth ministry. It now encompasses boys and the ages range from 5 to 18 expanding into leadership training for young adult women. Tamara is currently serving as the Founder and Senior Youth Leader of The Bonfire Sessions.
Tamara is also a student of Springs of Life Bible College. She loves teaching the biblical uses of flags in worship and enjoys going on adventures with her family.
